Genealogy Essay Contest
Involving young people in the study of genealogy is a continuing goal of the Greater Houston Jewish Genealogical Society.
To that end, the local organization, in cooperation with the board of the Bureau of Jewish Education, sponsored an essay contest for third, fourth, and fifth-graders attending Jewish day schools and synagogue/temple religious schools.
Participating students selected one of two topics to research and submit:
- "The story of my Jewish immigrant ancestor"
- "My Jewish immigrant ancestor's life when he/she was my age"
Prizes were:
- First place: $100
- Second place: $50
- Third place: $25
Judges were furnished by GHJGS
